Hosea Williams: A Legacy Lives On

World War II hero. Scientist. Entrepreneur. Politician. Hosea Williams was all of that and more. A member of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr’s inner circle, he called Williams a “wild man,” and his “Castro.”

We used a single camera set-up to interview Elisabeth Omilami, daughter of Hosea Williams at the headquarters of the nonprofit Hosea Helps. Since the space received a substantial amount of daylight, we used a couple of daylight-balanced LED light panels to counter shadows and even out her skin tone. This intimate set-up gave Elisabeth the comfort to freely talk about her father’s life and share key events that helped to shape him into a powerful activist and successful philanthropist. Using photographs from the private collection of the Hosea Williams estate, we were able to produce a compassionate and insightful look at a civil rights legend.
